Thinking of The Lord's Supper
April 10, 2016
A little more than two thousand years ago Jesus was crucified, buried, and then He rose again. The day He arose was truly a glorious day. A day to be regarded and preached about with tones of the greatest victory.
However, it is sacrifice that is required in order for our sin to be covered. Jesus was and still is that perfect sacrifice. Never will there be a need for another sacrifice! It is His death that scripture tells us to focus on and commemorate. God’s perfect Son, THE spotless Lamb slain for the cleansing of our souls and for redeeming us back to the Father.
We will soon partake of the emblems which represent the body and blood of our Savior. During this season these thoughts most always come to my mind. Take a moment to give them earnest consideration...
We want to partake of Him every day! I am not suggesting that we participate in taking the emblems daily. Rather this, “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.” (Romans 13:14) It is this partaking of or ‘put ye on’ that can and should happen every day! By looking in the mirror and examining our lives we avail ourselves to God’s authority for removal of that which is displeasing to Him. And God’s righteousness in me ONLY comes by having His Son in me.
A daily dose just make sense.
